How to play Connect Four
Connect Four is free in the browser on Play Online Games. Click a column to drop your red disc and get four in a row across, down, or diagonally before the computer (yellow) does. You always move first.
Steps
- Click or tap any column that is not full. Your red disc drops to the lowest open space.
- The computer replies with a yellow disc.
- Take turns until someone has four of their discs in a line: across, up and down, or diagonally.
- If the board fills with no line of four, the game is a draw.
- Start a new game at any time. You always play first.
Tips to play better
- Play the center column first. More lines of four pass through the center than any other column.
- Before every move, check whether the computer has three in a row with an open end, and block it.
- Before you drop a disc, check what it lets the computer do in the space right above it.
- Try to make two threats at once. The computer can only block one of them.
- Diagonal lines are the easiest to miss. Scan for them on both sides every turn.
