How to Play Minesweeper on a Chromebook
To play Minesweeper on a Chromebook, open Play Online Games in Chrome and click a cell to reveal it. Flag a mine with a two-finger tap on the trackpad, Alt+click, or a long-press on a touchscreen. Your first click is never a mine.
Minesweeper on Play Online Games runs in Chrome on a Chromebook. There is no app. Click a closed cell to open it. Numbers count mines in the eight touching cells. Clear every safe cell to win. The first click on a new board is always safe.
How to place a flag in Minesweeper on a Chromebook
A flag marks a cell you think is a mine. This version does not use a separate flag button.
- Trackpad: two-finger tap the cell. That is the Chromebook right-click.
- Keyboard: hold Alt and click the cell.
- Mouse: right-click the cell.
- Touchscreen Chromebook or phone: press and hold the cell for about half a second. If you start to scroll, the flag cancels.
Flag the same cell again to remove the mark. Opening a flagged cell does nothing until you clear the flag.
Chord a number when you have already flagged every mine next to it. Click that number and the remaining neighbors open. Wrong flags can still hit a mine.
Phone and board sizes
On a phone, tap to open and long-press to flag. Beginner is 9x9 with 10 mines, Intermediate is 16x16 with 40, and Expert is 16x30 with 99. Start on Beginner if the trackpad flag feels new.
